Welcome to the new Sloan Public Library blog!

We are restarting our blog with all new content. We will be posting library news about every month, but a new and exciting thing we will offer is guest authoring. We will let patrons post their book and movie reviews on the blog, reading suggestions, and other library-related information.

If you would like to be a guest author to give a book or movie review, just email us at slolib@longlines.com with the email address you would like to use for your log in, and we will get you set up. Reviews will appear in the blog, and we will periodically share a link to the blog on Facebook.

In other news, we are already planning our summer programs and should have our schedules out in April. We will have arts/crafts days, game days, movie days and of course, our summer reading program in July. We will also have a small Lego Mindstorms programming class starting in June.

On April 17th, we will have a meeting with the local preteens/teens to get their input on services and programs specifically aimed at their age group. We will be starting a teen book club, and a few other things based on survey responses, and suggestions from our local teens. Meeting will be at 3:00 pm. Kids don't have school that day. We will have snacks for everyone who attends.

Summer reading will be a little different this year as well. We have purchased 2 Kindles to give away. One to the child who reads the most minutes, and one we will have a drawing for. There will be ways everyone can earn tickets for a chance to win the 2nd Kindle. Ways kids can earn tickets are: coming to the summer reading program every week, attending another program, reading in the library for a set amount of time, and for certain reading goals reached.

We will post our summer activity schedule soon and we will again be sending it out with kids from school.

All it takes is sending us your email address and we will add you. You will then receive an email invitation. Just follow the instructions and you can add your review!
